Alcohol-Free Cala-Martini

Calamansi or Philippine Lemon is a potent citrus fruit that is very common in the Philippines. I wanted to incorporate flavors from my home country and when I saw Sanzo‘s calamansi sparkling water at the grocery, I had an idea to use it in a mocktail - a Calamansi Martini. Calamansi is out of season here, unfortunately, so the fresh fruit is not available but I do have frozen calamansi juice packets that I used in this recipe. This can be substituted with lime. Sanzo’s calamansi sparkling water is good to drink by itself too! More flavorful than your average lime sparkling water.

It is my first time using Free Spirit‘s NA gin and I was pleasantly surprised! It is juniper-forward and there’s a nice bite that kind of explodes in your mouth (i took a shot 😋). I also used Sobreo‘s Tuscan Juniper that adds sweetness to balance the tart calamansi juice while also adding more juniper flavor to the drink so it tastes more like real gin.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz NA Gin
  • 2 oz Sobreo Tuscan Juniper (use discount code MOCKTAILWIZ15 for 15% off)
  • 0.5 oz Calamansi Juice or Lime Juice
  • 2-3 oz Calamansi Sparkling Water
  • Dried lime for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a shaker full of ice, add NA gin, tuscan juniper, and calamansi juice.
  2. Shake for 10-12 seconds
  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass
  4. Top with calamansi sparkling water
  5. Garnish with a dried lime
  6. Enjoy!
