Alcohol-Free First Lady
Matcha in a mocktail? Yes. It’s a thing! This is my non-alcoholic take on this Matcha Cocktail by Grant Wheeler. I used Matcha Kari‘s First Harvest matcha in this mocktail. The earthiness of the matcha plus a little bit of sweetness from the simple syrup and tartness from the lemon juice go so well together. The gin alternative from Ritual Zero Proof and Sobreo‘s Valencia Orange add extra complexity by giving it a bite at the back and a subtle bitterness as well. The egg white adds a nice texture too! Ingredients:
- 0.5 oz lemon juice
- 0.5 oz Sobreo Valencia Orange or NA Triple Sec
- 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
- 1 tsp Matcha from Matcha Kari
- 1.5 oz. Gin Alternative
- 1 egg white
- 2 Basil Leaves plus more for garnish
Instructions:
- Add lemon juice, Valencia Orange/NA Triple Sec, simple syrup, matcha (sifted), gin alternative, and egg white to your shaker.
- Dry shake (no ice) for 30-40 seconds
- Add large ice and small ice and shake some more
- Strain into a glass full of ice
- Garnish with basil leaves
